In the Early Years Unit at Ronald Ross School we have a strong belief that our children recieve high quality education. We provide this by ensuring there is a rich learning enviroment with real opprtunities for self-directed learning and for children and adults to have time for in-depth conversations.

We have adopted the High-Scope approach to learning and this is based upon the provision of:

  • Opportunities for children to engage in active learning experiences and develop initiative, decisison making and problem solving skills.
  • Dependable and real relationships with adults.
  • A developmentally appropriate curriculum.

The High-Scope Wheel of Learning shows clearly how all the elements of the approach fit into delivering an active learning approach to learning. These are: Daily Routine, Learning Enviroment, Adult/Child Interaction and Assessment.
