Ronald Ross Primary School Football Team Division 2 CHAMPIONS

March 2008

Our superb team played the entire season without being beaten. The Championship was undecided right up to the last game of the season.

Our Physical Education Programe aims to:

  • Enhance Physical, Social and intellectual development
  • Encourage children to appreciate the effort and performance of others
  • Engender a life long  enjoyment of leisure and sporting activities

We believe that P.E has a vital role to play in a child's growth of confidence and self-esteem and we are carful to ensure children are challenged at appropriate levels.

We aim to make use of many local facilities and opportunities as we possibly can. The school is currently linked to:

  • British School's Tennis Association
  • Southfields College
  • Putney Swimming Baths
  • Wimbledon Athletic Track
  • Jumprope -British Heart Foundation

Each year we take part in a variety of sporting events, most recently these have included:

  • Putney Primary Schools Sports Association Football League
  • Wandsworth Borough Football Competition
  • Kings College Athletics Competition
  • Orienteering

Coaching and activities that take place regularly in the school include

  • Dance Club
  • Drama Club
  • Football Skills

All children will swim during the school year in Key Stage 2. The children will usually have their swimming lesson in an 8 week block and we aim for all our children to swim at least 25 metres before they leave us in year 6. Children currently swim at the putney leisure centre where lessons are led by Wandsworth Swimming Instructors. Children are able to earn certificates and badges for both distance and water skills.

We are by law required  to take enough swimming observers for a ratio of 1-10 adults/ children. Please let us know if your are ever able to help by going to the swimming baths as an observer with the children.
